  1. Rope inlay

I'm attempting to find out the main body type wood name. It was added to one of the last orders. I like it. The inlays are ebony.
  2. Double Helix

Here's another new design I'll have in Charollet. With different wood types this would be nice.
  3. SW inlay

This one was a bugger. Getting all the pieces the EXACT same size and all the angles cut took many trys. Good thing I've got a wood burning fireplace.
  4. Rope inlay

This is my first try at this one. Walnut and maple. I need to bring the maple pieces together slightly yet.
  5. Gun stock checkering

Some time ago in a post about wood being slippery when wet (not true, but) someone suggested maybe I could put gun stock checking on them. Well, if you want it I can now do it. I am surprised that this is comfortable. I thought the checkering might rub on the hand, but not so.
  6. New design

This is a variant of the elliptical. It's probably a ture ellicptical shape in that there are no strate lines. The main body is birdseye maple. The inlays, top and bottom sections are Koa.
  7. Eagle inlay

Here is my first attempt at a true inlay. I learned a lot from it and the next one will be better. The main wood is spalted maple, the eagle's mane is straight maple, birdseye maple for the shading under the eye and beak and koa for the beak. The eye is a eye in the birdseye maple.
  8. Fred Yarmolowicz

This is the handle that Fred Yarmolowicz, the 100,000 post winner won. It is birdseye maple and burl walnut. The finish is true oil. Butt is 12" and tip is 5", mazimun OD is 1 1/8" with the very bottom of the butt 1 1/4". Maybe Fred will post the picture of the rod when it's finished? Hint, Hint.

  10. barber-pole

Just had to prove to myself that I could do it. if I counted right 232 individual pieces. I discarded at least 1/2 that amount as unacceptable. Some others should have been due to shading, but it's just a test so what the heck. Each piece cut on a compound 45 angle and then 8 individual pieces guled together to form a ring. Rings turned unglued to very close to final sanding step and then glued together for final sand. Way to much time!!!!
  11. 22.5 compound angles in cork

I haven't gotten the latest magazine yet but read a post about perspective. The inlays on the left are all equal. On the right the top one is slightly thinner but looks more porportioned. Wish I'd seen the post before I made the left one and had to redo to the right. Wood are maple and walnut. 16 pieces in each inlay all cut at compound 22.5 angles.
  12. Arrow trim band. Chevron???

Got this one done. Wish that I would have brought each trim just slightly toward the center more. It's burl walnut and maple. Stuff I have laying around that I used to try something out.
  13. 45 slant insert

Used some odds and ends left over to try a new insert design. Should have a chevron done with this design by the end of the week.
  14. cork swirl

I figured out how to do the swirl thing in cork. The "how to" for wood and cork will be in the August issue of RodMaker.
  15. Fugi IPS trigger grip

Just finished proving to myself that I could motise the trigger grip in this. The woods are curly maple and redheart.
  16. hollow2

I got a request for a closeup like I usually do. Sorry it wasn't in the last picture.
  17. Hollow

Maple and Koa. Since lighter is better I thought I'd make it light. The center is hollowed out execpt for the ends and middle. It's not very comfortable. Structurally sound. Can anyone figure out how to inject some type of foam that could be colored into the voids? Just playing around.
  18. petal-eboney

I really don't like this that well but my wife thinks it's really nice.

  20. petal-2-views

Here's another design idea I have. Just wanting to know what some of you think. Koa & Curley Maple.
