  1. Hand twisted Silk Wrapped Guides

This is a little 7'6" 3 wt Sage I made for a fishing buddy. He wanted something different and it is wrapped in hand twisted silk made by me. It is a green and gray single strand silk I made myself by twisting together the two strands and wrapping the blank. Very time consuming to make the strands, but a nice effect.
  2. Another view of Jim's Rod

This is a little 7'6" 3 wt Sage I made for a fishing buddy. He wanted something different and I decided to inlay a mayfly from the Lower Owens in Bishop CA. He likes to fish the Lower Owens so I decided to use a fly from that area. I kept the feather work plain and simple to reflect his principles. I used a simple Pheasant feather base with a Peacock Pheasant on top of that and limited the bright feathers It is crested in both the Argus and Bustard feathers with a little Eurasian Jay on the side with a white Biot feather inlayed under a Jungle Cock. The rod has Purple Heart and Ebony wood on the handle with a little buffalo horn. Reel seat is Purple Heart which he likes. It is wrapped in hand twisted silk made by me. 3. Purple Heart Reel Seat

This is a little 7'6" 3 wt Sage I made for a fishing buddy. The rod has Purple Heart and Ebony wood on the handle with a little buffalo horn. Reel seat is a Purple Heart Bellinger slide band.

  5. Jim Lamb's Rod

This is a little 7'6" 3 wt Sage I made for a fishing buddy. He wanted something different and I decided to inlay a mayfly from the Lower Owens in Bishop CA in a ivory piece. He likes to fish the Lower Owens so I decided to use a fly from that area. He is also a guy that works with his hands so I kept the feather work plain and simple to reflect his principles. I used a simple Pheasant feather base with a Peacock Pheasant on top of that and limited the bright feathers to prevent a circus atmosphere on the rod (which is what he would've thought of the rod had it had bright colors). It is crested in both the Argus and Bustard feathers with a little Eurasian Jay on the side with a white Biot feather inlayed under a Jungle Cock. The rod has Purple Heart and Ebony wood on the handle with a little buffalo horn. Reel seat is Purple Heart which he likes. It is wrapped in hand twisted silk made by me. 6. Side View of Lots of Feathers ROD

Side of view of Rod w/ the same desciption. This one is a 9ft 4wt 4 pc rainshadow with a little feather pattern at the base and some feather work at the 18 inch mark. It has a very nice blue parrot feather, with a yellow one over that with a red cock of the rock feather on top. It has double JC eyes with veiling of Macaw (both Scarlet and Blye/Gold), has Speckled Bustard, Florican Bustard and a Nice Argus veiling to top the sides off. It has a JC secondary feather on each side with a JC eye on that. It was finished off with a black wrap and 24 ct gold chain as a winding check. All of this is one a green blank, wrapped in a gray thread with no CP. Handle has Ivory, black buffalo horn, some flies inlayed in the handle, burl cork, Carolina Cherry burl wood with a Lamar Reelseat from Andy.
  7. Another view of the Lots of Feathers ROD

Another view, but the same desciption. This one is a 9ft 4wt 4 pc rainshadow with a little feather pattern at the base and some feather work at the 18 inch mark. It has a very nice blue parrot feather, with a yellow one over that with a red cock of the rock feather on top. Handle has Ivory, black buffalo horn, some flies inlayed in the handle, burl cork, Carolina Cherry burl wood with a Lamar Reelseat from Andy. This is also using Hobbypoxy and as you can see, I do no think there is a clearer more bubble free epoxy on the planet. This is the first rod I have completed using this epoxy in years.
  8. Lots of feathers

  9. Lamar Reelseat

This one is a 9ft 4wt 4 pc rainshadow. It is a green blank, wrapped in a gray thread with no CP. Handle has Ivory, black buffalo horn, some flies inlayed in the handle, burl cork, Carolina Cherry burl wood with a Lamar Reelseat from Andy.
  10. The bug Rod

Finished the first of several rods I have in the works. This one is a 9ft 4wt 4 pc rainshadow. It is a green blank, wrapped in a gray thread with no CP. Seems to cast quite nicely. Handle has Ivory, black buffalo horn, some flies inlayed in the handle, burl cork, Carolina Cherry burl wood with a Lamar Reelseat from Andy. A feather or two finishes this one up with a gold chain winding check
  11. Stag Handle

After some input on the board, I made a full wells grip using stag, buffalo horn, buckeye, carolina cherry burl and box elder burl. And burl cork. Only a 4 wt, but should make a nice float tube rod. Can't wait to put a feather or two on this one. I have 7 rods in the works, all in various stages of being built. Will post pictures of all when I am done. This one turned out rather nicley and thanks to A. Dear for those madrells to turn down handles like these. Without a mandrell, turning handles like this is all but impossible, unless you are a true craftsman, like the MunichRodMan or Eden!!!
  12. Mayfly enlay on the rod

Placed a mayfly nymph in the end of a reelseat made of black buffalo horn with a ivory cap. Turned out ok. NO SUCH THING AS BUBBLE FREE EPOXY Went on the red feather rod posted some time ago here. Casted it yesterday and it was great.
  13. May Fly Enlay

Didn't feel like doing a scrim so I decided to try something new. Placed a mayfly nymph in the end of a reelseat made of black buffalo horn with a ivory cap. Turned out ok. NO SUCH THING AS BUBBLE FREE EPOXY
  14. Nice one caught at Bishop CA

Here is a nice one caught near the power plant in Bishop Ca on the weekend before the superbowl
  15. Red Parrot 7

    Striper guide with feather inlay.
  16. Red Parrot 6

18 inch mark with mirrored JC feathers. Simple, but a nice finish when viewed in the hand of the fisherman.
  17. Red Parrot 5

Another shot of the seat that finished this rod nicely.
  18. Red Parrot 4

Different angle of the red parrot rod. Here you can see the reel seat portion of the handle. Wood is burl with fossil ivory and black buffalo horn Reel seat is a burl wood seat from Andy Dear.
  19. Red Parrot 3

Different angle of the red parrot rod. Here you can see the feathers and see the stonefly inlay. Wood is burl with fossil ivory and black buffalo horn near the featherwork. Mammoth ivory was used as the base for the stonefly inlay. Stonefly is a stone from the Lower Owens in Bishop CA captured in 1994.
  20. Red Parrot 2

Different angle of the red parrot rod. Here you can see the different feathers like parrot, jay, red cotinga, blue cotinga, kenya crested and a little peacock among others. Wood is burl with fossil ivory and black buffalo horn near the featherwork. Mammoth ivory was used as the base for the stonefly inlay.
  21. Red Parrot

Latest creation. Been Busy, but I wil post several pics of this rod. Is a Rainshadow green blank with a little stonefly inlay handle with some feather work on a swelled butt. Rod casts very nice. Main feather is a red/green parrot feather that was EXTREMELY difficult to inlay, but I think it was worth it....
  22. Ferrule inlay

This is one side of the ferrule ready for a few coats of epoxy. Matching JC feathers look really nice.
  23. Unfinished Purple Feather Rod

Here is the purple feathered rod, which belongs to a customer. Soor, I don't have a good picture of it finished.
  24. Bellinger Reelseat

This is the Bellinger reelseat I used to finish the rod. It has a maple insert and goes with the wood and buffalo horn I used to on the handle.
  25. Feather work and inlay

Here is the rod showing both the feather inlay and stonefly. It is a Rainshadow 8' 6" 3 piece. Can't wait to get it wet.
