Gold band enlay on engraved Nickle Silver Reelseat
Terry Henson posted a gallery image in Member Galleries
This is special reelseat made for me by REC several years ago. REC never finished the project and I only received 3 of these special reelseats. They are engraved with a 14kt gold band in the center. Wood is Carolina Cherry burl. Rod is a 3 piece Sage with Ivory and burl wood enlays. One of kind reelseat. -

Finished Sage with a simple, but popping feather pattern. Has Kenya Crested, Malay, Crow, Peacock, Jay and others. Handle is Burl cork, Spalted Maple, CA Buckeye burl and nice piece of Fossil Ivory with a crack. Stunning handle when seen wet. Thinking of putting a little scrim Shaw on the side, maybe a little mayfly in two colors. Thoughts?

Here is how I do hook keepers with a swelled butt rod. I use the smallest drill bit I can find and drill a small hole in the wood ring or Ivory. (in this case a small ring of black buffalo horn. Then I take a stainless steel hook and cut it off below the eye, making a small post with a ring. I attached a 3 ring keeper to the hook shank and glue it in the hole. In the past I have used Toucan claws for keepers as well. Enjoy

This is nice Sage 4 WT (Perfect for float tubing) It has Fossil Ivory with Buckeye burl and spalted Maple with Burl Cork on the Handle. Sorry for the Glare, but this a 4 feather layer pattern with Guinea fowl, Peacock Pheasant, Indian crow and jungle cock. All vieled in Agus, bustard and Macaw. No reelseat yet. Can't decide.

5 wt Winston with fossil ivory, carolina cherry burl and buckeye burl handle Feathers are Pheasant, indian crow (POOR QUALITY) jungle cock, Hi-Macaw, florican and kori bustard, paecock with a 24 ct gold chain check. Should have NEVER tried to use this crow in the rod and as you can see, not the best look, but that's what seperates us from the rest. We try hard or near impossible things......and sometimes we fail as I did here. But I love fishing this rod.............
