fishing, and rod building, oh, and did I mention fishing!
  1. single foot guide

the fugi single foot guide, very sharp looking guide. I used these guides on the split handle rod just posted.
  2. split grip wood handle

same rod, different angle, also epoxied down the cork tape, it is absoliutely seamless!
  3. split grip wood handle

mesquite (sp?) with 3 liberal coats of birchwood caseys walnut stain, then a good wet coat of tru oil, then buffed satin with a fine steel whool pad. used Andy Dears method of sanding with the wet tru oil to fill in the grain, worked fantastically!!!
  4. split grip wood handle

found a chunk of mesquite (sp?) for a dollar at the flea market. made a split grip with cork tape , and used a pac bay fly seat (up locking) to round off the setup, handle roughly cost 15$ not including my labor
  5. one for putter

heres a new one I just finished putter, sorry its not purple, but hope ya like it anyway :-)
  6. flyrod handle

4 wt. handle made from meskite (sp).. ebony, and white pine, from a scrap, closet clothes rack, 2 coats of tru oil, more coats tommorow, for a friend on a budget. easy to turn, and kinda resembles cork...
  7. bass rod

  8. bassrod handle, with cork tape

handle shot, cork tape "rod bonded" to blank, absolutely impossible to find the seam, turned out much better than I expected, and matching butt cap to compliment the reelseat
  9. micro bass rod

a small bass rod I got "artsy" with, cocobolo reelseat, size 16 fugi seat, a 1/2 inch id. Amtak blue ring, from a cracked guide as a winding check, cork tape handle, and modified a calcutta 250 handle with matching wood, single handle, mounted on a calcutta 50, wrapped on a Forecast SP844-DB.blank. the pic doent do it justice, but thread was black red and tan, with no CP, twisted together, to give a wood grain effect to match the real wood, looks good in person.
  10. rear view

rear view of reel seat with a "bulge", the owner palms his reel, and it is actually really comfortable, to my surprise.
  11. in progress

"bulbed the insert out a bit, then flattened out the area where the reel will fit into the reelseat.
  12. wood handle

here is an "in progress" of a small bass rod I am making for a friend, cork tape epoxied to blank, with a nylon cord between the tape.
  13. trigger seat

sixe 20 rear trigger to a 18 fugi thread with black palm insert
  14. frankenstein reelseat

trigger seat made from a useless size 20 trigger, and a fugi skeleton, very slight taper on the insert, but very comfortable if you like "palming" the reel while fishing
