  1. Game rod rebuild.

Closer view of the main stripper.
  2. Game rod rebuild.

    Closer view of stripper guide.
  3. Game rod rebuild.

24kg rebuilt using gold metallic underbind and royal blue double overbind, with no cp. Basic compressed chevron on buttwrap, with black accent. The flash has washed the colour out, i thought i had turned it off.
  4. Ugly Stik Rebuild

Another shot of guide. When i handed the finished rod back to the customer, he said "that's not my rod". He had trouble believing it was.
  5. Ugly Stik Rebuild

Another view of same guide, but also showing a section of re-painted blank. I used Tamiya PS Polycarbonate paint, those used for radio control car bodies, in a metallic gun metal finish. I applied three coats after sanding the blank smooth. I didnt apply any coating over the paint as i want to see what the durability is like.
  6. Ugly Stik Rebuild

Photo of main stripper guide on a 28 year old ugly stik i recently finished. The rod was in poor condition and everything was removed and re-built from the gimbal up.
  7. Heated Drying Box

The box has two doors for easier access which are hinged at the top. Each door has a plexiglass inspection window which is ventilated with a series of 1/16th" holes. Overall length is 3 metres.
  8. Heated Drying Box

A close up of the drive mechanism. All constructed from timber. Very simple and very effective. Final rotation spedd is 10 rpm.
  9. Heated Drying Box

Another closer view. I have a thermometer to monitor temp. Lights and motor can operate independant of each other. Motor is 240V and drives a reduction gear which in turn drives a wooden gear. The other five gears are daisy chained to the first. It uses o rings for the drive.
  10. Heated Drying Box

Photo showing my drying box. It has 4 x 40Watt on bottom and 4 x 25Watt light globes on top in series to heat box. temperature gets to 36 degrees C (96 degrees F approx). I have it on a timer for 4 hours and can dry 6 rods at a time.
