This is of a question for Ray Jorgesen on rodbuilding.org. I hope Talisman doesn't mind.
  2. Waffle House rod!

I did not build a Waffle House rod on purpose. Really! It was supposed to be the colors of a coral snake.
  3. grip

Can you guess what gave me the inspiration? Coral Snake. I just forget which species...lol Eastern maybe? Red touch yellow, kill a fellow. Red touch black, venom lack.
  4. grip

My photography skills need some improving. Had a black grip and a red grip, both eva. Cut'em up, placed a yellow ring in between and glued'em up. I kinda like it...now the wife wants it.
  5. Sweet Home Alabama Inlay

Alabama State Flag colors in the state silhouette. This rod is an 8' Allstar 20-40lb for whatever will bite!
  6. Logo and Signature

I made the logo and signature using my ALPS MD1000 printer and Decal Connection waterslide paper.
  7. Marble

  8. Marble....maybe not

Don't really know what it looks like but it's different than a butt wrap.
  9. Marble....maybe

Second trying the marble thing. It seems ok. Was definitely easier than a butt wrap
  10. 70 degree hardness eva

The blue/yellow/black pieces are 70 degree hardness eva. I glued them up with some red eva and it sanded down fine. This stuff is HARD! I have now idea what hardness the red eva is. I'm guessing around 50-60.

  13. Sweet Home Alabama

Sweet Home Alabama EVA inlay. Still needs some cleaning up and sanding.
  14. Red & Orange no CP

Just tinkering around with regular thread and no cp. This was regular nylon red & orange. The before photo is before the finish and the after photo is with finish. My photography skills still lack desirable results but you get the gist of it.
  15. candy apple orange

First time I've tried the candy apple effect. The guide was wrapped in gold metallic and finished. The I went over it with Gudebrod Regular Orange and no cp. I alternated the guides wraps with ornage and candy apple red.
  16. balancing

Here I hollowed out the butt cap to place another washer. The butt cap is turned from a rubberized cork ring. This is also my first attempt at extending a rod. So far, so good!
  17. balancing

Here is a grip I'm building for a rod extension. I noticed that extending the rod made it tip heavy. I hollowed out the end of the grip to place two washers.
  18. grip for rod extension

Here's a grip I'm making for a rod extension. The grip will be finished off with a rubberized cork butt cap. This is going on a Forecast 6'6" spinning rod using a Shimano Sahara 1000.
