Browsed the plumbing section for something to allow use of the clamp with a mandrel. Later realized I could have easily used old spools or a center bored 2x2

after putting this together, I realized I could have just used some old spools or a couple of pieces of 2x2 with a center hole bored in them.

Lamiglass 6'6" 3pc 3wt with Amtak reel seat and loomis venture reel. For color in the handle I used the craft foam sheets from michael's and burl cork. wt

for those of you who, like me, always wondered what Tom looked like, I got him to hold still at Charlotte...

First split grip...decided to add the extra winding checks not only for looks, but thought they might help protect the thin part of the cork.

Here's another shot with the rest of the rod. The rear grip is 8 1/2 , and I can't wait for the rod balancing issue to come out...

Hope Sharon doesn't see this, but it's a 3 piece all-star titanium - the middle section is wrapped both conventionally and as a spiral. By reversing the orientation of the tip section, this rod can be fished either way for a comparison/demo.
