The handles are cypress, figured maple, ebony, redwood burl.

This is a copy of Zane Grey's rod I had on loan from a friend who owns the original. Faithfully replicated, the rod is layers of bamboo, hickory, and koa. The handle is Kao not ash like the original but the shape is identical. Wrapped burgandy and red of the finest Japanese Kimono silk this ones a beauty. I have won many blue ribbons and silver cup "Best of Show" awards for my rods as art. They are used to fish by many members of the exclusive rod. Soem additonal hanldes are figured maple, Australian cypress, maple/black ebony, burl redwood.

The tackle box is a maple reproduction od a Orvis 1930's era box with Alaskan yellow cedar trays inside and brass hardware. The reel has linen or silk line. My good friend and fishing buddy John Lambert and I took the photos.

I made this rod from scratch. The rod was made from 8 glued strips of white ash that were hand carved. The handle is redwood burl interspersed with cork and capped with black ebony. All the wraps are silk and coated with 18 layers of rubbed varnish.
