  1. Sewing Machine Power wrapper - Final Product

Here is the final working version of my power wrapper made from a sewing maching. Decided to mount the chuck in a piece of 6x6 for portability (small rod building area) and rock solid support. The motor can be quickly turned around to change winding directions, if desired. Very happy with the surprising performance of this unit. Very glad I used the belts to reduce the speed and increase power. Still has more RPM's than you can use.
  2. Close up showing rod chuck mounted to skateboard wheel used as ball bearing support. PVC cap is the base, with a rubber cap with a small hole cut in the center as the chuck itself. VERY FIRMLY grips blanks of various sizes. Later, I deleted the hose clamp, because it wasn't needed, and was off balance.
  3. Power Wrapper/Rod Lathe

Side view of rod wrapper made from sewing machind showing use of original pulleys and belts to increase torque for turning handles.

  5. Great Roller Support!

Great rod supports made from the wheels of a $1 Ebay purchase. Smooth-rolling ball bearings, nice, nylon wheels protect your blank. As good or better as any rollers I have seen, home made or factory. Will add third roller, but due to the deep pocket between these large diameter wheels, the blank is VERY stable, even when turning at high speeds.
  6. Cheap roller support

Cheap roller support made from teflon shower door rollers, an electric box and lead sinkers (inside) to keep stable. Cost about $2 to make
